Shasta Regional Medical Center Receives CMS Top Tier Star Rating

08-03-2016

REDDING, CA (August 1, 2016) – Shasta Regional Medical Center, (SRMC) announced its four-star rating from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services, (CMS) placing SRMC within the top 25% of hospitals nationwide, and the only hospital in the North State to receive the highest rating, four out of five stars for quality in patient care.

In late July, CMS released their overall hospital quality "star ratings" on its Hospital Compare website to provide consumers with more transparency regarding the quality, safety and service of hospitals throughout the United States. Hospitals received ratings of one to five stars, with five stars being the highest score, based on their performance on selected measures from the hospital inpatient quality reporting and outpatient quality reporting programs. The ratings were based on 64 of more than 100 measures displayed on the Hospital Compare website.

"Our team works diligently to reach the highest standards of clinical excellence in our community, and we are extremely proud of this achievement. Even with this exceptional rating, we continue our mission of treating people well, with patient centered excellence in all aspects of the hospital, quality, safety and service," said Cyndy Gordon, Shasta Regional Medical Center, CEO.

The scoring consisted of seven clinical measures in the area of mortality, safety, readmissions, patient experience, timeliness of care, effectiveness of care and imaging efficiency.
