Shasta Regional Medical Center Laboratory Receives Accreditation From College of American Pathologists
February 22, 2010
Redding, CA — February 2010 — The laboratory at Shasta Regional Medical Center Redding, California, has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.
The laboratory’s director, Dean Moyer, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the “excellence of the services being provided.” Shasta Regional Medical Center is one of nearly 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.
“Shasta Regional is dedicated to following procedures and quality control to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients,” Moyer said.
During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine staff qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as to the overall management of the laboratory.
The CAP program begun in the early 1960s and is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.
CAP is a medical society that serves more than 17,000 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world.
