Hospitalist Services
As part of our commitment to providing excellent inpatient medical care, Shasta
Regional Medical Center is pleased to offer patients the service and attention of our
dedicated hospitalists.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital. Our
hospitalists work with emergency department physicians, your primary care physician
(PCP) and any necessary specialists to provide a seamless transition, from admission
to discharge to outpatient follow-up.
Hospitalists are available to provide care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and are
accessible throughout your hospital stay. They know every specialty and department
in the hospital and are in the hospital all day, ready to assist you. During critical and
stressful moments, they will provide honest and considerate answers to your
questions and will be able to spend time talking to you and your family about your
care at times when your primary care physician is not available.
Shasta Regional Medical Center hospitalists are Board certified/Board eligible
internal or family medicine physicians, and generally do not have an outpatient
medical practice. Many hospitalists have additional training in pulmonary, critical care
medicine or other sub-specialties. Our hospitalists typically work one week on and one
week off, so you may see more than one hospitalist physician during your stay.
