Meet Our Knee Replacement Specialists
Richard N. Cross, MD
Dr. Cross is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who received his medical
degree from University of Nevada, Reno, NV, did his Surgical Internship
at John P. Smith Hospital, Ft. Worth, TX and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency
at John P. Smith Hospital, Ft. Worth, TX. His professional affiliations
include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Medical
Association, and California Medical Association. He is a knee replacement
specialist who has been practicing medicine for over 30 years.
In addition to Shasta Regional’s Knee Replacement Specialists, our
dedicated staff will ensure you are well cared for and fully informed
about your treatment options. Shasta Regional provides monthly pre-op
classes for patients preparing for knee replacement surgery. In the class
our Joint Team experts will educate you on what to expect before, during,
and after surgery. They will explain how to prepare yourself before surgery,
share and review a pre-op checklist, and explain what to expect after
surgery and your recovery at home.
John C. Lange, MD
Dr. Lange’s constant pursuit of excellence in orthopedics has included
continuing research and specialty training in the emerging field of minimally
invasive surgical techniques. He is a consultant for and developer of
Smith and Nephew Corporation’s computer assisted orthopedic surgery
systems (which enable orthopedic surgeons to perform high precision, minimally
invasive, hip & knee replacement surgery and pelvic and acetabular
trauma stabilization surgery). Dr. Lange lectures on these topics throughout
the United States and Europe. He is also a member of the North American
Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA) and the Swiss Arbietsgemeischaft für
Osteosythesefragen (AO) North American Faculty group.
Dr. Lange is Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and
he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a
Faculty Member of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University
of California, Davis. His specialty interests include sports medicine,
joint replacement, complex deformity reconstruction, as well as pediatric
orthopedics, and foot and ankle surgery.
Paul Schwartz, MD
Dr. Schwartz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member
of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association,
the California Orthopedic Association, and the Shasta County Medical Society.
Since coming to Redding, Dr. Schwartz has continued to pursue excellence
in medicine with continuing education courses and research into minimally
invasive surgical techniques. He currently works as a consultant for Smith
and Nephew Corporation, for the advancement of computer assisted orthopedic
surgery of the knee, and minimally invasive surgery of the knee. Dr. Schwartz
is also a consultant for other orthopedic manufacturers, for the development
of minimally invasive surgical techniques for the shoulder and lectures
on both of these topics across the U.S. He is an accomplished arthroscopic
surgeon, and focuses most of his practice on the treatment of knee and
shoulder problems for both sports medicine and reconstructive surgery.
