Radiology

The Department of Radiology at Shasta Regional Medical Center makes a difference in the lives of patients and their families by providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and interventional services at the hospital.

Imaging techniques available include 64-slice CT, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, angiography, and digital filmless X-rays, which can be reviewed by the referring physician on a desktop computer within minutes.

Imaging technologies give doctors a greater insight into the human body. The 64-slice CT is distinguished from other diagnostic imaging tools like a traditional X-ray and MRI by its ability to display a combination of soft tissue (such as muscles, tissue, organs, and fat), bones, and blood vessels all in a single image. Clinicians perform CT scans to diagnose kidney, lung, liver, spine, blood diseases, cancer, tumors, and cysts as well as blood clots, hemorrhages, and infections.
